Trying To Cut Down

So, I have decided I have too many dolls for my current display space and I feel bad at how little I have been playing with them. I am in the process of deciding who I can part with to help get funds towards buying the remaining dolls things like eyes, clothes, shoes and wigs. I am also going to take a break from commissions to try and finish up my own doll projects that I keep setting aside.

Resisting dolls is very difficult, especially limiteds that I know I'll probably never get the chance to own if I don't order when they are released from the company, but I suppose that is the whole reason companies release limiteds...

Anywho, currently I am trying to re-home a Luts Senior Delf Girl Body  (ns), Luts Delf Claus in Real Brown, FairyLand Feeple Event Head (the one that is similar to a Christmas 2006 limited head), Soom Beryl Body (ns) and a FairyLand Pukifee Zoe (ns). I am also contemplating Soom Luxullia in White (two full dolls since I got an extra body), Dollzone Anson (cw), Rapa's Factory Fexy (ws).

Some of the funds will be to help me get a new human body for my Soom Topaz head since now I want to get her the new Soom Super Gem extra pose body, or perhaps a Feeple 65 or Granado body. Jude also needs a new body. And almost everyone needs eyes and wig, clothes and shoes. I feel bad that I have been spending more money on dolls instead of getting things for the ones I already own, so I hope to fix that this year.

I missed out on the Limited Luts SDF Uriel that I wanted because I waited till last minute to try and order... I couldn't decide if I wanted him in real brown or normal color. I wish I would have been able to order both!! Or at least one. I really hope they will re-release him!!!!

Anyway, I want to do more faceups so I am offering one free faceup every month, only cost is shipping to and from! I may add more than one free faceup once I get all my own crew squared away. I really enjoy painting BJDs so I'm hoping this will provide me with more opportunities to paint them!

Event Season!

Hello again!

It is event season and the temptations are worse than ever! There are soooo many wants right now... I can't decide which one I would want to get    >_<

I am re-homing some of my dolls, currently a FairyLand Pukifee Zoe and Soom Bygg Starlight Prince both with default faceups. I am also contemplating adding a couple more to the list, but I doubt anything will sell for a while due to all of the events going on.

I have a couple of faceups to show that I did this month, and I still have more to do, including one commission!  I am also going to be offering free return shipping on commissions for the next month.

Current Temptations and Wants

I have almost no money to spare right now and I've been trying to be good with not using my credit cards this year, but the doll companies keep coming out with more and more temptations!!


I really want to get a Feeple 60 Luka to go with Roger, as well as possibly a new body for him. I'd also love to get a MNF Luka in WS for some Mylo legs I have.

Withdoll is currently offering their dolls in Grey and I'd love to order two to make my light and dark themed grey elves. I've missed out on 3 past grey temptations due to lack of funds in the past as well (Souldoll Leira, Soom Onyx, Iplehouse Luna Tamer).

Doll Chateau is going to be having a tiny version of Alberta as an event gift, and I really want an Alberta, it'd be great to get a tiny to go with her!!

For a long time I've wanted a BlueFairy Tommy girl, but I keep getting side tracked by events and limiteds... I'd also love to get a Leila and Minoru from their Junior line and perhaps a Tiny Fairy Sorang and Emilie as well.

If FairyLand ever comes back with the 70 line, I'd like to get another sculpt or two from that line. I also would like to get a pair of littlefees, an Elf El and a body to go for my Elf Shiwoo plate. I missed out on the Chic Line order (I wanted to get about 4 of them), really hoping they will do another order for them again, perhaps with more notice so I can save up for them.

Jude still needs a new body, and I'd also like to get him a nYID Luna to pal around with him. Iplehouse has many temptations as well, I just love their faces!! I may want to get a Spiritdoll Freezia to pair up with another character I'm working on, currently named Mr. Strange. I've been wanting to get a couple of DIM heads for hybriding with either DZ, DC or perhaps a Zaoll body. I would also love to get my hands on a couple of DZ Dragon heads to put on DC bodies.

There are of course tons of other wants, but that is the big stuff that came to mind.

Loooooooong time no post, again... sorry!

Updates:
- Finally decided on a camera and got it purchased, the Canon T3i, so far I love it!
- Got an Airbrush and Compressor set so I can do airbrushing on fantasy parts. I've done one set of hooves so far, so much easier to get nice bold colors!!
- Discovered that seam sanding causes immense pain in my wrists and forearms.
- Also discovered that it takes an entire can of sealant and top coat to do a Soom Monthly doll.

I really need to get some desks from Ikea so I can have some more space to work on. I did a lot of work sitting on the floor and now have great pain in my neck and shoulders from hunching over... Super excited to do some more work with my airbrush, I have several dolls that need to have their hooves and paws painted. It seems that my faceup skills may have started to improve a little, so I'm also excited to re-do some of my crew and see if I can keep up my practice and get some better results than their current faces.

Idea Time!

I have some ideas rolling around in my head, so I want to post them here so I can remember them when I have the ability to start the adventurous projects;

A house for my Chic Lines; two stories or multiple rooms, Bedroom and living room, perhaps a kitchen and bathroom too. I would like to also have installed lighting in the ceiling to provide decent lighting, and possibly some custom furniture to include working lamps... oh, and a staircase. They will also need a photo studio room.

Display for my Sooms; Still deciding on a direction to go with them, so not sure what the theme will be, but they will need a very large display box for proper photo space.

Light Box and/or Photo Shoot setup so I can take better quality pictures of my resin crew.

Maybe try and make a custom BJD, perhaps pets or people or fantasy bits or something... though not sure if I will have the aptitude for sculpting. I would at least like to make some custom props for my crew, like walking sticks or some such fun accessory.

I'm sure there is more, but that is what I can think of at this moment.

Dear Iplehouse,

I love you. Your dolls are GORGEOUS, but they are also massive, some of them difficult to handle, and also pricey, which is why I do not yet own any of your beautiful dolls. I understand why they are pricey, they are a LOT of resin, but still makes it hard for me to afford them. =(

Anyway, the reason for my blogging about them today is that Iplehouse has announced that they are going to release their Elemental Gaurdians in their Custom Doll System (CDS) and I am ecstatic!! I fell in love with the Lahela, but didn't want an EID since I am not very fond of the EID jointing. Then they came out with the Claude and I was severely tempted, but didn't have any money. Now I can get them both!! I can even get one of the EID or SID heads on the new YID body which I also love!! OH! To top it all off, they also released the Peach Gold skin as a standard option!!! I love that color, their Normal was a bit too pale for my preference for most characters, so this is a wonderful addition and great to have more choice than pale or tan.

I am dying of dollie happiness at this moment, I just wish I had money to buy at least one of my Iple desires this order period! One day I will own at least one Iple...

Also, I am offering free return shipping (within the continental US) on any faceup work for Iple EID and SID sculpts. I really really enjoy working on them, so I'm hoping to get to see some more of these beautiful dolls in person! <3

Mmm Cameras

So, I've toying with the idea of getting a DSLR or a high end point and shoot. After doing some research, I think it may be worth the extra couple hundred to go with one of the affordable DSLRs out there. The top three I had found for affordability and the added bonus of a vari-angle LCD are the Panasonic Lumix G3, Cannon T3i/600D and the Nikon D5100. For my own sake, and perhaps anybody else who is curious, I am putting some notes about them here;

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G3 - Base Price: $624.88

16 MP Micro Four-Thirds Interchangeable Lens Camera with 3-Inch Free-Angle Touch-Screen LCD and 14-42mm Lumix G VARIO f/3.5-5.6 Lens
3.0-inch free-angle LCD with touch control gives users the ability to choose your focal point and focus strength as well as several other functions by just touching the screen. Reviews say it's a great beginner DSLR camera and also great for low light photos.
Doesn't seem to be very many lenses with good reviews for this camera and they are high priced.
Smallest body of it's size, light weight too, which could prove convenient for all those odd angles.

18 MP CMOS APS-C Sensor DIGIC 4 Image Processor Full-HD Movie Mode, 3.0-Inch Clear View Vari-Angle LCD and EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens

From what I can tell this model of camera is not very cross compatible with other cannon lenses and the ones available are a bit pricey.

This camera has some fun in camera editing tools and special effect modes that look very intriguing. rom what I can tell this camera is also cross compatible with other/older lenses, though some functions may not work with them. It also seems that the lenses are more affordable as well.

When I first started this search I was leaning towards a Lumix Fz150 or Cannon G12 which are high end point and shoots, though the FZ150 was also a super zoom. I've only ever owned point and shoots that cost $125 or less and have no knowledge of the more detailed intricacies of photography, so this is a big learning process for me.

The local Best Buy has the T3i and the D5100 and I plan on going in and playing with them some more, hoping I can get them to let me take it off of the security thing to really get a feel for them. There are no real photography/camera stores in the area, so it's the best I can do for now.

If anybody that reads this has input on these cameras, or other cameras or about DSLR photography in general I'd love to hear it! <3

Chic Line Awesomeness!

I found a great deal on a FairyLand Chic Line body on the second hand market last week and was finally able to bring home a second body for my other heads!! I now need to paint my Lishe and Ino blank plates so I can do fun and sexy photo shoots with them <3

I'm super excited!! I hope I'll be able to do some decent work on their tiny little faceplates, I know it won't be anything like FL's default beautifulness, but I'm ok with that since they will be unique  =P

Now I need to consider getting a Rou and or El for them to play with... or perhaps just another girl body for my cat plates <3

Dark Brick

I took Jude out to the park the other day, then after I found a really nice dark brick building and stopped for pictures. This dark brick was wonderful for photos! I'll have to keep it in mind for future photo shoots <3

Want!

There is an artist who makes her own dolls, several have been animals. The artist I am referring to is DaisyDayes on Flickr. She is amazing and awesome and wonderful! Anyway, her latest creation is a hand size dragon!! <3  I so want one... even more than her Goats and Deers!

Oops

I was cleaning off some smudges on my Sard's face and discovered that I had not sealed him well enough... I am a bit bummed due to the fact that I really liked his brows and lips immensely. Now I'm going to be even more paranoid about sealing after I've finished. I had at least 4 layers on there... but guess it just wasn't enough this time around.

Ah well, guess it's an opportunity to get more practice in! Perhaps I'll re-do some of the others while I'm at it.

So, now both of my Soom boys have their first faces. Thinking I might re-do the one on Chalco, but we'll see. I loved working on Sard's face, I really really enjoy sculpts with lots of shape to them <3

The Gypsy Gets A Face

Got together with my friend Cali and painted my Gypsy boy's face, she painted her boy Bran (Soom Post MD Chrom). Not sure if he'll stay this way, I love some features, but next to bran he just looks so... plain! Though he did turn out lovely, so I'll probably stick with it for a bit and see if it grows on me.

Here is a shot of the Soom boys in their blank state. They are still waiting for names, but the Sard will be a Prince and the Chalco will be a Gypsie.

More New Arrivals

This was one crazy month for my collection!! Just last week I got another Soom order in, this one with Post MD boys from Soom's last event. I got a NS Sard and NS Chalco, a friend of mine got a NS Chrom. These boys are pretty awesome! Now I am tempted to get them sisters from the Post MD Girl event, I'd get a Vesuvia head on Beryl body for Sard and a Topaz head on an Amber body for Chalco.

Still working on names and stories, but thinking Sard is going to be a prince, and perhaps a pirate on the side. He is going to have some sort of long name. Chalco is a bit more of a mystery, thinking he may be a nomad, traveler or gypsy. The Chrom and Chalco look like they could be related in blank state.

I also got a Rapa's Factory Fexy in shortly after the previous Soom order in. He is a bit taller than my Pukifee and a pretty different aesthetic, jointing is different and he looks a bit more mature. My intention for him was to be a minion for my demon girl (Luxulia). I really need to order some eyes and wigs for everyone and try and make some clothes for them... I am not skilled in sewing, but it is very hard to clothes some of these fantasy guys in standard attire.

With all these dolls that just arrived I shouldn't even be considering more, but I can't help it... there are temptations everywhere!! I've been oggling an Iplehouse Lahela on the DoA marketplace for about a month... I wish I could afford her! I don't particularly like the EID bodies, I am more fond of the SIDs, but she is just so pretty!!!! >_<
